The first overall pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Islanders, John Tavares would spend the first nine seasons on Long Island and was captain of the Islanders for five of them. Johnny T would end up leaving the Islanders and going home before the start of the 2018 season, signing a mega deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs and becoming captain of the Buds’ shortly thereafter. Presented here is this CCM U+ Crazy Light stick, those hails from Tavares’s first few seasons in the National Hockey League when he was using the model seen here. Having been signed by JT on the tapeless blade in silver ink, the signature displays well with excellent eye appeal on the dark background. Featuring factory graphics that state “J. Tavares” and the wielders custom “JT 91” logo, the stick remains in excellent condition with no breaks or cracks present and light game wear present such as the occasional nick or scratch on the shaft. Factory warranty and serial number stickers are found still affixed to the stick on both the lower and upper parts of the backside of the shaft. The tape style found on the knob is similar to other examples of Tavares game used sticks from the era, including those used by the superstar at the 2012 NHL All-Star Game in Ottawa. The stick is part of a large collection of sticks featured in this auction with our consignor informing us that he obtained most of them from various NHL All-Star Games over the years with four such examples from the collection having been photo-matched to All-Star Games.
