Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022

Larry Robinson’s greatness and O-Pee-Chee’s challenging colored borders of 1973-74 mean plenty of interest will be garnered by this high grade example of the six-time Stanley Cup champion’s rookie card. Deemed worthy of NM-MT 8 recognition at PSA, card #237 exhibits a miniscule white speck at the bottom right corner and a smidgeon of white up near the top left corner, while a yellow print dot/circle spotted to the left of the Habs logo is also notable. Among the (524) Robinson RCs examined by PSA graders over the years only approximately 10% (54) have achieved a mark higher than NM-MT 8. Like other Habs before and after him, “Big Bird” was a Stanley Cup champ before his rookie cards were issued, having joined Montreal mid-season in ’72-73 and performing admirably in the playoffs, aiding the Canadiens to go “all the way.” One small light peripheral scratch to the front of the PSA holder is mentioned for accuracy but should not be a deterrent.
