Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2023

The de facto leader of the Montreal Canadiens after the retirement of superstar Maurice Richard in 1960, Jean Beliveau would continuously take the club to the promise land during the decade, winning five Stanley Cup championships along with the inaugural Conn Smythe Trophy, in 1965. Hailing from the early-1960s, circa 1961-63, we have a team-signed stick used by the timeless legend. A CCM Pattern Made Custom Pro model, “Beliveau” and “4” are stamped to the upper shaft, with white tape to the knob and black to the blade. We should note that this is not the regular tape jobs used by Beliveau, and although we have sold a model in the past with similar tape job, there is the possibility of use by a different player. The stick shows marks and wear to the lower shaft along with a small chip to the blade. Approx 10 have signed in pencil, including Beliveau, along with Richard, Plante, Geoffrion, Moore, Hicke, Rousseau?, Johnson, Fontinato and one other that is visible. Most of the signatures are quite light, with a few that are almost completely faded.
