Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Winter 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/28/2023
From the height of the club's tenure as the undisputed champion of all hockey teams, we offer a desirable circa late-1950s/early-1960s Montreal Canadiens team jacket. Most likely produced for team members due to the quality and construction of the garment, the solid red jacket features a chenille Habs crest with "NHL", with bleu, blanc et rouge cuffs, collar and waist band. All the original buttons are intact, with just light overall wear to the jacket. According to our consignor, he was gifted this jacket by Frank Selke while the Habs spent time during a train layover at his great grandparents farm. His great grandfather and Selke shared a love for chickens, with the tale confirmed to us by photos of correspondence between them sent by the consignor.
This jacket measures 24 inches from armpit to armpit, Therefore most likely a size 48 with approximate length of 28 inches.
