Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/31/2022
First playing in the Quebec Hockey League in 1954, and serving as the Montreal Canadiens' farm club for the 1955-56 NHL season, the Shawinigan Falls Cataracts were a short-lived franchise, existed for just a mere four seasons. During it's tenure, the club would compile an all-time record of 137 wins, 101 losses, and 20 ties. Attributed to the 1954-55 to 1957-58 time-period, we have a Cataracts wool sweater, with Eddie Kachur (1954-55, 1955-56 and 1956-57) and Gene "Max" Mekilok (1957-58) both wearing the #11 sweater with the team. A mostly detached LJ Parent & Fils label resides along the collar, with the vintage wool measuring-out to roughly a size 48. Styled with "11" in layered dual-colour felt sewn to the chest and reverse, pairs of stars in matching material have been placed over the upper front, reverse and shoulders, with a damaged "S" over the left shoulder. The sweater also features four-eyelet, metal grommet construction to the tie neck. Heavy use is exhibited, with wear to the material throughout including material runs, small holes and wear to the felt identifiers. Numerous team repairs are also visible, with approx 40 total repairs throughout.
