Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022

With initial use by HOFer Steve Shutt, arguably the greatest left winger in Montreal Canadiens' history, we have a Habs jersey that was also worn by Gaston Gingras during his rookie campaign with Montreal in 1979-80. A mostly-detached Maska label is situated on the collar near a faded laundering tag, with the vintage sweater measuring-out to roughly a size 50. Styled with the iconic Habs CH team crest fully administered in layered tackle twill, “2” is sewn to the verso in matching material, with evidence visible of a former nameplate. There is also dual heat-pressed logos present on the front and reverse hem, with the fight strap cut and removed. Each "2" over the sleeves has been removed (outlines visible), with the reverse "2" re-positioned at some point. Worn by Shutt during the first half of the season (photo-matched to Shutt, to the particularities of the team's crest including numerous grouping of worn out threads), it was then recycled for Gingras' use, with the Temiscaming native seeing action in two games early in 1979-80 (Oct 20th and Oct 21st), followed by regular play with the team from January 14th to April 6th, along with 10 playoffs games that season. Sporting heavy game-use throughout, there are numerous puck and stick marks over the front and sleeves, along with pulls, burns, pilling, stains, paint transfer and small areas of discolouration, with a hole on the lower left sleeve. Team repairs are also visible, with examples placed over the front (14), reverse (3) and sleeves (7). An LOA will accompany.
