The first indoor Winter Olympic hockey rink, the Jack Shea Arena – also known as the “1932 Rink” – was built for the 1932 Olympic Games in Lake Placid, with six of the twelve hockey matches held at the venue. This Picturegrams news broadside advertises the dedication of the arena for Olympic competition in 1932, with a match between the St Nicholas and Lake Placid Clubs featured. At 16” x 19” and dated “January 22, 1932”, the thin paper stock broadside was published by Illustrated Current News in New Haven, Connecticut. The interior of the arena is wonderfully pictured, with text directly beneath listing the particulars, with additional advertising text along the base. Sporting surface wear and toning, a pair of punched holes is also present along the bottom, with just a professional framing needed.
