Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022

The popping vivid colors of this 1951-52 Vic Stasiuk rookie card strike the beholder, with this example of card #62 in Parkhurst’s landmark hockey card issue sure to interest those working on a high grade vintage card collection. Receiving SGC’s mark of 86 NM+ 7.5 some years ago, the splendid specimen also exhibits pleasing background hues, along with bold, clear text. We spot a tiny surface indentation, (near the edge to the left of the text) and a light corner ding, the latter only detectable upon checking out the back (bottom left when viewing the reverse). This example is a Pop 2 with two higher on the SGC Pop Report, while just 24 out of 172 submissions to PSA over the years have scored higher than 7.5. Light scratches and scuffs to the SGC holder are to be aware of. Of Ukrainian descent, Alberta-born Stasiuk won three Stanley Cups with Detroit early in his career and then later centered the Bruins’ famous “Uke Line,” skating with Johnny Bucyk and Bronco Horvath.
