This Bell K1 helmet has been photo-matched to not one but two Grand Prix races in the 2002 Formula One Championship season. Villeneuve first wears this helmet during the Austrian Grand Prix, held at the A1 Ring in Spielberg Austria on May 10-12, where he qualified 17th and finished in 10th place. The helmet can then be photo-matched to images from the Monaco Grand Prix, held at the Circuit de Monaco on May 24-26, where he qualified 14th but retired from the race with an engine failure on lap 44. The helmet was painted by Bell SPORTS Europe and has been tagged 2002-02. Stickers with the flags of both Austria and Monaco have been added to the rear of the helmet by the Bell trackside support. The helmet remains in the same condition as when Jacques exited the Monaco GP. The helmet shows great use inside and out with a number of small rock chips on the front of the helmet. The vents have been closed off and extra foam around the eye port has been added as per Jacques’ request. The full race radio and the original drink tube remain and the visor still has four tear-offs attached. This fantastic photo-matched helmet would be a great center piece to any Formula One collection and is from Canada’s only F1 World Champion. Originating from Jacques Villeneuve’s personal collection, his signed LOA will accompany.
