Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022

Record breakers Cal Ripken, Mark McGwire and Barry Bonds are involved here, but we’ll begin with a couple of the interesting “others” which date back to the 1950s. A respectable low grade 1952 Topps #1-Andy Pafko card has small tears near the upper corners, two one-inch diagonal creases descending from the top edge and a couple of surface scratches/indentations but lays flat with no rubber band issues, while a ’59 Topps Brooks Robinson entry received a mark of NM 7 numerous years ago from PSA, with perfect centering among its attributes, but with multiple light scratches to the PSA holder to be aware of. With some NM-or-better characteristics is an ’82 Topps Ripken RC, its grade lowered by a subtle light diagonal surface indentation that straddles the Bonner/Ripken images. McGwire contributes six times in encapsulated form, with “Issued in 1989” and “96 MINT” appearing on the SGC label of a 1982 Anchorage Glacier Pilots card, while 1985 Chong Modesto A’s cards include error (PSA MINT 9) and corrected (GEM MT 10) versions. A piece of wood joins an ’87 Topps McGwire in a BCCG holder labeled “10 Mint or Better” with “Game-Used Bat” also present. Two other McGwires, a Bonds ’87 Topps Glossy Send-In card (PSA GEM MT 10) and a couple of miscellaneous cards complete. Light scratches/scuffs to the holders of the slabbed cards are to note.
