Finishing the season 8 ½ games behind Pittsburgh, the Montreal Expos placed fourth in the National League East in their sixth MLB season in 1974, with notable stars Ron Hunt and Bill Stoneman acquired by the club. This bat issued to third baseman Bob Bailey has been team-signed by the 1974 Montreal Expos. A 35” Louisville Slugger M44 signature model with blond finish, the model number is stamped to the knob with “3” handwritten, with the number repeated at the top of the barrel. “Expos” and “1974” have been handwritten to the left of the center brand in black marker, with approx 42 signatures placed over the barrel in matching black ink, including Gary Carter (rookie season), Barry Foote, Ron Fairly, Jim Cox, Tim Foli, Bob Gebhard, Pat Scanlon, Dennis Blair, Jose Morales, John Montague, Tom Walker, Tony Scott, Jim Cox, Steve Renko, Pepe Frias, Don DeMola, Bob Stinson, Larry Parish, Willie Davis, Bob Bailey, Ken Singleton, Steve Rogers, Warren Cromartie (rookie season), Duke Snider (Expos hitting coach), Gene Mauch and others. The signatures present well, with the bat showing a few lighter areas where strips of tape were once affixed. A PSA/DNA LOA will accompany (the bat was authenticated as a pair along with the 1978 Expos team-signed bat also available in this auction, with a photocopy of this PSA/DNA LOA accompanying that lot).
