Centering a line with veterans Gordie Howe and Ted Lindsay in only his second NHL season, Norm Ullman would spend over two decades in both Detroit and Toronto, with over 1000 career games played and over 1000 points scored. We have a stick used by the Provost native during the 1957-58 NHL season, team-signed by the Detroit Red Wings. A Northland Pro model with "Ullman" stamped to the upper shaft and "16" handwritten (Ullman only wore #16 for his first three NHL seasons), "Lippman's Tool Shop" supplier stamps appear on both side of the shaft, with the original black tape job to the blade and knob. Approx 17 have signed one side of the shaft in thin red ink, with most of the signatures light and hard to decipher. Signers include Gordie Howe, Sid Abel, Marcel Pronovost, Red Kelly, Johnny Wilson and others. Ullman has also signed across the blade tape and over the upper shaft, with both of these signatures modern. The stick itself shows good game-use with wear to the taped section of blade including the underside, with marks and small chips to the lower shaft. The blade also appears cracked in two spots beneath the blade tape, with a small piece of the tip of the blade missing.
