An NHL superstar that commonly found himself on teams that enjoyed little playoff success, Marcel Dionne would routinely answer the call to represent Canada at international tournaments including four IIHF World Hockey Championships. Registering 3 points in 7 games at the 1979 IIHF World Hockey Championships is Moscow, Russia and helping Canada to a 4th place finish, up for grabs here is this helmet worn by Dionne at the tournament that has also been signed by 21 members of that squad. A CCM model bucket with the company’s logo over the front crown and both sides, the emblems on the sides have been blacked out with marker while Dionne’s number “17” is represented with red stickers on the back. Sporting an intact harness and retaining about half of the original padding on the interior, a CSA sticker is also found on the back of the piece with the CAHA label once affixed to the other side no longer present. Signed by 21 as previously mentioned, all have penned their signatures in black marker with some having faded over time in varying degrees. Those that have signed the helmet include; Dionne, Bobby Smith, Al MacAdam, Paul Woods, Rick Green, Guy Charron, Brad Maxwell, Ed Staniowski, Nick Libett, Ryan Walter, Robert Picard, Dave Shand, Dale McCourt, Jim Rutherford, Greg Smith, Dennis Maruk, Gary Unger, Wayne Babych, Steve Payne, Wilf Paiement and Trevor Johansen. The one side of the helmet, with Dionne's signature, features the inscription reading "To Mike, Thank You Marcel Dionne". Overall the helmet remains in good condition with some light marks and abrasions throughout.
