Born in England but raised in British Columbia, and earning the fitting nickname “Lord Byron”, Byron Dafoe was a Calder Cup champion in the AHL and was drafted by Washington, in 1989. Dafoe would backstop four different clubs during his time in the NHL, and we offer a mask worn while representing the Boston Bruins in 1997-98. A heavy Pro's Choice model with Bruins paint scheme by Dom Malerba (his signature is placed on the interior) that includes a team logo over the forehead along with flanking bruins and “Lord Byron” in drop-shadow Old English within a banner over the chin section, the back plate spots matching guard dogs with “34” and “Dafoe”. Exhibiting light use with a few scratches and surface abrasions visible as well as light soiling to the mouth guard, there is also a large gouge over the lower right section of the chin. We should also note that according to Dafoe, he wore this mask for just a short period upon his arrival in Boston, and as we were unable to find any images of Dafoe wearing it in games, it was most likely worn as a backup, and/or in practices/training camp, with the possibility of use in preseason games. An Itech storage/carry bag is also included.
