O-Pee-Chee’s ever-popular 1984-85 set of 396 cards features an appreciated design and some notable rookie cards, with the assembly here showing very little handling and boasting a NM average. Steve Yzerman’s RC (EX-MT) and those of Doug Gilmour (EX-MT+), Cam Neely (NM) and Chris Chelios (NM) highlight the lineup, with ten different cards of Wayne Gretzky also in the mix. EX-MT to MINT is the range – you’ll enjoy examining them all, with unmarked checklists also present. Ditto (for the checklists) in a 264-card set from ’86-87, also looking sharp and mostly high grade. An unfortunate exception is the Patrick Roy rookie. Despite some similar characteristics, card #53 is lowered to VG+ in our book due to a subtle light back crease, the result of a bend in the upper left corner region (when viewing the front). There’s also a small scrape in the vertical blue stripe on the upper front. Wendel Clark and John Vanbiesbrouck RCs are notable and both NM, with Mario Lemieux’s second-year card (NM) and a vast majority of NM to MINT examples comprising the rest. In short, two very attractive stacks to consider.
