This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/25/2024
One of many new releases to emerge in the early-1930s, the Hamilton Chewing Gum company’s 1933-34 V288 hockey card set rings in with a checklist that includes a total of 21 cards and features some of the era’s key players. Offered here, we present this group of eight (8) cards from the 1933-34 Hamilton Gum V288 release. A mix of blue, orange and yellow background offerings that are mostly in a low-grade state, included are two (2) examples of card #1 that pictures Nick Wasnie over the front, one (1) that is a blue background copy that is around FR to G with rounded corners and a crease at the top left and one (1) that is a yellow background copy that is struck with corner issues and a soiled reverse. For the rest of the set, present are examples of 7-Thoms (x2 - one blue that is around FR to G with surface and corner wear plus a stamp over the reverse and one yellow that is around GOOD with corner wear), 17-Clancy (GOOD - surface wear and soiling), 33-Day (FR to G - surface wear, crease and a small ink mark) and 49-Conacher (x2 - both yellow backgrounds - one around G to VG with border and surface wear and another around POOR with back damage and paper loss). Overall a neat grouping of cards from the early days of the National Hockey League that includes numerous household names of the era.
