Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/28/2023
The Montreal Canadiens fifth consecutive championship season, HOF defenseman Tom Johnson concluded one of his greatest campaigns the previous season in 1958-59, winning the James Norris Trophy while earning selection to the NHL first All-Star team. The 1959-60 season would witness Johnson hoist the Stanley Cup with teammates for a record fifth consecutive season. Hailing from his personal collection, we have Johnson's 1959-60 Canadiens framed team photo. A gorgeous colour image at 10" x 13", affixed to a 15" x 19" mount, the club is depicted in the traditional team photo, with the Stanley Cup front and center. The date of "April 14, 1960" is stamped to the mount, with the desirable photo framed to full dimensions of approx 17" x 20 1/2". The photo itself is flawless, with some spotting to the mount. The frame also shows wear, with a minor separation to the bottom left corner (frame still fully intact). An LOA from the Johnson family will accompany.
While all of our frames are thoroughly and safely packaged for shipping, due to the size and/or weight, and dependent upon the shipping company, we should mention that damage may occur in transit. Please note that as such, we are not responsible for damage to frames that occur during shipping.
