Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Winter 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/28/2023
Employed as the artist for the Hockey Hall of Fame throughout the 1990s, Doug West produced the artwork for the gorgeous “Legends of Hockey” postcards issued from 1992 to 1996 that featured the greatest names in hockey history. Still immensely popular, offered here is this lot featuring three giants of the Original Six era, Stan Mikita, Eddie Giacomin and Gump Worsley with their art prints having been signed by the individuals and framed. At roughly 12 ½” x 20”, each card-stock print features its subject expertly depicted, in aesthetically pleasing full colour portrait and on-ice images. Each has signed beneath his respective image in pencil, with each signature flawless. The artist West has also laid pencil to print, signing each along the bottom right section. With every print numbered to 200 copies, the Mikita print is numbered “111”, the Giacomin “101”, and finally, the Worsley print has been numbered “119”. Framed in matching black frames and matted under black and grey, full dimensions measure 21” x 29 ½”. All three frames show varying degrees of dings and wear to the edges and corners. Featuring COA’s affixed to the back of each frame, the pieces hail from the personal collection of Brian Glennie and come accompanied by a signed Glennie family LOA.
While all of our frames are thoroughly and safely packaged for shipping, due to the size and/or weight, and dependent upon the shipping company, we should mention that damage may occur in transit. Please note that as such, we are not responsible for damage to frames that occur during shipping.
