Enjoying a 19-year National Hockey League career after being drafted 56th overall by the Calgary Flames at the 1981 NHL Entry Draft, Mike Vernon, a Memorial Cup champion in 1983 with the Portland Winterhawks, would backstop the Calgary Flames and Detroit Red Wings to Stanley Cup championships in 1989 and 1997 respectively and take home the Conn Smyth Trophy as playoffs MVP in 1997 as well. Named to five (5) NHL All-Star Games, offered here is this Calgary Flames jersey worn by Vernon in 1993-94. A CCM made garment with both Maska Air-Knit and size "52" tags affixed to the inner collar, the Maska label also sports a handwritten "G" in pink marker (for goalie cut) while "Maska" has been circled in matching ink. WIth both the CCM and NHL shield logos embroidered into the reverse hem, it should be noted that Flames jerseys used during the 1993-94 pre-season/training camp mostly had vented collars with some ending up being used later in the regular season as well while during the regular season itself, jerseys showed a team stamp inside the reverse hem and no vented collars for the most part. Having said that, some jerseys have come to market showing a pre-season stamp and no vented collar along with some with no stamp and no vented collar presumed to have been worn during the regular season. Decorated over the front with a tri-layer stacked tackle twill Flames crest, the sleeves and verso have been accented with Vernon's number "30" in matching dual layer white-over-yellow tackle twill numerals. Having had "Vernon" spelt out across the affixed matching nameplate in matching style dual layer tackle twill letters across the top of the back, the jersey shows light signs of use with a few light marks scattered over the front in the form of stick and/or puck marks and small board burns, the interior of the jersey shows a small spot of pilling/fraying beside the open part of the "C" in the team crest as well as frayed threads around the collar and shoulders. Showing just light signs of having been washed via the fight strap on the interior, no team stamp is found inside the reverse hem. Overall, a classic Flames example worn by one of the key players in the Cup year of 1989.
