Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021

A fabulous opportunity to score some captivating 1968-69 Topps cards presents itself here, with almost entirely immaculate surfaces the facet most striking the beholder – these have barely been handled the past 50-plus years. We do observe a lightly touched corner here and there, or the odd light corner ding, with some diamond cuts and some not-straight bottom edges, but can report of EX-MT, EX-MT+ and NM cards combining to dominate and NM-or-better cards being a majority. There are NM-MT, NM-MT+ and even MINT cards to discover, while EX and EX+ cards are present but very few and far between. The key (off-centered) Bobby Orr card has the aforementioned not-straight bottom edge, three light corner touches and a light corner ding and is EX+, with the Bernie Parent rookie card at EX-MT+. Other most notables include Howe (EX-MT), Hull (NM+), Sawchuk (NM+) and the unmarked checklist (NM). We spot but one small crease throughout (24-Baun) and one nicked surface (114-Berenson), with light toning on most backs also to note. Topps’ first official hockey set offered throughout the USA, other than the ’66-67 Test issue, (and featuring members from the six expansion team for the first time), awaits is deserved “action” and we surmise that you’ll be very pleased to have come out on top of the bidding when this splendid stack is delivered.
