Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021

Extremely attractive in design and highly sought by vintage jersey collectors who value the traditional era durene sweaters dominated, this late-1970s St Louis Blues jersey sports a Bob Hess nameplate but has been attributed to Hartland Monahan. Rawlings labeling with “48” sizing is affixed to the collar, with a customized loop-style fight strap utilized. Styled with the classic blue note team crest in layered tackle twill, “23” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in matching material. There is evidence of a former longer nameplate, with the current “Hess” nameplate incorrect for the era for the Blues, with this example likely added well after use. Additionally, as no evidence of a former shorter nameplate is visible (for Hess), and with the spacing of the former longer nameplate matching for Monahan, the jersey has been attributed to his use in 1979-80. Sporting nice game-use with wear to the material throughout, there are a few small stains near the right cuff, with marks over each sleeve. Team repairs are also visible, with examples situated on the front (5) and reverse (2).
