Originally drafted 1st overall by the Minnesota North Stars in 1988, Mike Modano would stay with the franchise for two decades, which included leading Dallas to their first Stanley Cup win in 1999. This signed Easton Synergy stick was used by Modano in 2001-02, and has been photo-matched to the March 16, 2002 match vs Toronto that ended in a 5-5 tie, with the star earning three assists. An Easton Synergy model with “9 Modano” factory graphics over the upper shaft, the stick retains the tightly-wound rib pattern on the handle, with the original black tape removed from the blade to allow space for the large and flawless silver paint pen signature executed across the front side. “March 16, 2002” has also been handwritten on the reverse blade. Sporting moderate game-use with a somewhat sticky shaft and some chipping near the heel section along with small red paint transfer marks, Getty Image #684304 has been matched to the small chip along the outer edge at the front side heel, with the dark mark placed slightly above and to the right also visible, with both their placements appearing identical, while Getty Image #684329 has been matched to the black marks visible within the bottom of the “O” and “N” of “EASTON” on the topside edge of the shaft.
