Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
The 52nd season of existence for the fabled Toronto Maple Leafs, the 1968-69 NHL campaign witnessed the Leafs finish fourth in the East Division and advance to the quarterfinal, where they were defeated by Bobby Orr and the Boston Bruins. This stick has been team-signed by 19 members of the 1968-69 Leafs including 7 HOF members. A generic straight blade stick produced for a left-hand shooter, all 19 have signed one side of the shaft in blue ballpoint, including HOF members Tim Horton, Pierre Pilote, Norm Ullman, Johnny Bower, Dave Keon, Bob Pulford and coach Punch Imlach, along with Paul Henderson, Mike Pelyk, Larry Mickey, Pat Quinn, Bill Sutherland, Mike Walton, Ron Ellis, Murray Oliver, Al Smith and a few others. The signatures display well with a few light, with the Bower appearing to have been gone over twice, with the Horton signature remaining bold. Labels have been affixed to the stick just above the heel with “1968/69 Maple Leafs”, with a thin layer of varnish added over the signatures.
