Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
In the summer of 1983 Wayne Gretzky and his Oilers benchmates took to the field for a charity softball game held in Edmonton, much to the delight of local fans. With the Oilers off the ice and a little out of their element they were in search of a veteran big league "clean up hitter" to compliment their roster and found it in "Mr. Hockey", Gordie Howe! With their "ringer" in place the team outfitted Mr. Howe with one of their new Nike baseball uniforms and they hit the field. Direct from the diamond comes Gordie Howe's entire game worn Edmonton Oilers softball uniform consisting of the jersey, sporting his familiar number "9" on the back, along with his matching pants and stirrup socks. The Nike mesh jersey has been tagged in the neck with the Nike manufacturer tag and is a size XL. The matching pants and socks are made of polyester. The entire uniform shows light game wear with a few marks and stains on the jersey and some grass stains on the pants. Originating from the archives of the Edmonton Oilers, an LOA from Classic Auctions will accompany.
