Rehired as coach of the Montreal Canadiens upon his condition that Howie Morenz – traded to Chicago in October of 1934 – returned to the Habs fold, Cecil Hart led the Habs through the 1936-37 NHL season which included a first-place finish in the Canadian Division. Tragedy would occur in January of 1937, with Morenz suffering what proved to be a fatal injury at the hands of Earl Siebert. From the final season of legendary superstar Howie Morenz in 1936-37, we have an autograph booklet page team-signed by members of the Montreal Canadiens including Morenz, along with Toe Blake in his first full NHL season. At approx 4” x 6”, the solid pink page sports 11 black ink fountain pen signatures scripted in a single vertical row, including from top to bottom, Wilf Cude, Cecil Hart, Babe Siebert, Bill MacKenzie, Walter Bushnell, Rod Lorrain, Aurele Joliat, Bill Miller, Howie Morenz (signed as “H Morenz”), George Allan Brown and Toe Blake. There is heavy smudging to a few signatures including Blake and Joliat, with the Morenz a beautiful example, with just the tail of the “Z” of “MORENZ” intersecting with the signature below. The sheet itself has “Canadiens” handwritten along the right border, with light wear and toning present.
