Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
A day that will continue to live in infamy for the majority of Canadians, with Edmonton Oilers supporters hit especially hard with the sombering news, Wayne Gretzky was officially traded to the Los Angeles Kings on August 9, 1988, with this the catalyst to the major expansion into the US by the NHL. The Great One would play his first home game on American soil on Oct 6, 1988, and we offer a signed and framed display celebrating the historic first contest. At approx 18” x 23”, Wayne is pictured in a cameo image, with “Welcome to LA” beneath along with the date. Signed over the right in thin black marker, the signature displays beautifully, with a hologram added to the bottom right, matted and framed to full dimensions of approx 24” x 29 ½”. The poster shows no issues, with some wear to the frame. An LOA from Shawn Chaulk will accompany.
