Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
Popular with Montreal Canadiens fans and collectors after it was released at a big hockey show in Montreal in 1993 (Hockey Fest ’93) was a limited all-Canadiens 66-card set issued in a neat puck-shaped box, with two serial-numbered (to 5000) sets among this offering. One box is still factory sealed, while the other has been opened but has the set still in shrink wrap. Legendary Canadiens players and then-present Habs are featured, while the images of cards of the Richard brothers, Jean Beliveau and Yvan Cournoyer were used for big 5” by 7” promo cards, with eight out of 12 contributing here featuring autographs. Two are signed by Beliveau, two others by Henri Richard and another pair by Larry Robinson. The sigs of Steve Shutt and Guy Lapointe appear on two others, making for an all-Hall of Fame signing lineup. Also included is a Hockey Fest program signed inside by Rejean Houle. From the same season and also in the mix are five special ’92-93 O-Pee-Chee factory sets in black and silver boxes which include 396 cards plus a 25th Anniversary set of 26 cards (25 plus a checklist), while three “official” factory sets (without the 26-card set) are also present and like the others, still factory sealed. Nifty stuff from a special season for OPC hockey cards.
