Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/27/2021
Drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in 1987, Doug Torrel attended the University of Minnesota-Duluth for four seasons before dressing for a number of clubs in the IHL including Orlando, Utah and Minnesota. From his lone season in Long Beach, we have an Ice Dogs jersey worn by the Minnesota native in 1996-97, where he appeared in just 10 games (9 regular-season and 1 playoffs). Pro labeling is affixed to the collar along with a size “54” fly tag, with Bauer and IHL crests on the reverse hem. Styled with an embossed team crest with embroidered detailing, “23” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in drop-shadow tackle twill, with alternate crests over each shoulder. Sporting heavier use with wear to the material and numerous marks, there is also some staining on the upper and lower reverse. Considering the condition, and the fact that Torrel only saw action in 10 games, the jersey was most likely recycled for his use.
