Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
Battling with Finland against the world’s best at the 1976 Canada Cup, Juhani Tamminen spent seasons in the SM-sarja with HJK Helsinki before a single campaign with the WHA’s Cleveland Crusaders, in 1975-76. From his lone season in Ohio, we have a Crusaders jersey worn by Tamminen – with this especially rare mesh specimen worn during the second half of the season as the club decided to forego their durene sweaters, with these mesh examples that served as the final jersey set the only time the club wore the material throughout their existence. A Rawlings label with “48” sizing is affixed to the collar, with no fight strap present as issued. Styled with a tackle twill team crest with embroidered detailing, “9” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in single twill, with “Tamminen” across the upper reverse in matching material. Sporting light wear with a stick mark across the team crest, there is also some sweat staining to the collar and a small hole on each lower sleeve.
