Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
Captained by Hap Day and led by the scoring prowess of Charlie Conacher, the 1931-32 Toronto Maple Leafs would see a second-place finish in the Canadian Division, with the club slipping past Chicago and the Maroons before blanking the Rangers three-straight for their first Stanley Cup championship as the Maple Leafs, and third in their franchise history. The Turofsky boys and their Alexandra Studio are responsible for this crystal clear image of the 1931-32 Maple Leafs, with this the first example of this photo we have handled that has been colourized. At 7” x 9” (exposed), the full team is pictured in the traditional on ice pose including HOFers Clancy, Irvin, Primeau, Conacher, Day and others, with Leafs blue added to the jerseys to create wonderful contrast. The vintage photo has been double-matted and framed to full dimensions of approx 12” x 14”, with just some toning and spotting to note.
