Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
One of only three players to see action against the Soviets in both 1972 and 1974 along with series hero Paul Henderson and Pat Stapleton, Frank Mahovlich would play in 6 of the 8 Canada-Russia series games in both 1972 and 1974, scoring two points in each series. Obtained from his family and originating from his personal collection, we offer a group of Canada-Russia memorabilia including items from the 45th anniversary in 2017. First, we have limited-edition Team Canada watch by Sharp accompanied by a 40th anniversary card set with 19 cards signed (the Mahovlich brothers, Clarke, Henderson, Mikita, Savard and others), with the pair in the original display case and box with certificate, numbered "27/500". The watch has "Team Canada 1972" on the dial, and it has never been worn. Next, there is a boxed video set (unopened) with cover letter addressed to Frank from Ficel, signed by representatives from the company along with Mahovlich, a signed 8" x 10" photo, first day covers signed by Frank, Tretiak, Henderson, and Savard, three Summit Series t-shirts, a "Face-Off of the Century" Summit Series book (heavier wear) and more! An LOA from the Mahovlich family will accompany.
The additional signed cards include Cashman, Berenson, Seiling, White, Hull, Hadfield, Ellis, Stapleton, Guevremont, Glennie, Awrey, Parise and Ed Johnston, with each signed in thin black ink, with light handling wear to the group.
