Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
Although plenty is listed in our title, we’ll start with a few miscellaneous superstar cards, namely a 1972-73 O-Pee-Chee Bobby Orr card (EX), Bobby’s Special Collector’s Card (EX+) from ’78-79 and two attractive ’79-80 OPCs of Bobby Hull (NM) and Gordie Howe, the latter lowered by a small subtle wrinkle descending from the top edge. Now then, ’73-74 OPC representatives total a little more than 150, with two-thirds of them from Series 1. Mostly VG-EX condition is to report, with some duplicates and triplicates spotted but no big names and white backs outnumbering their grey back counterparts. A near set (123/132) of ’76-77 OPC WHA cards has Howe All-Star, Hedberg and Nilsson among those missing, with EX, EX+ and EX-MT cards showing up the most often, although 50-Howe is but VG+ with a small crease. Close to 100 doubles include a checklist but not Howe or Hull. Gordie’s #1 card (EX+) commemorates his 1000 career goals and leads a complete 66-card WHA set from ’77-78 (mostly EX+ to NM-or-better), with a couple of starter sets possible from some 100 extras, including another #1-Howe (EX). A ’77-78 O-Pee-Chee (NHL) set of 396 is housed in a binder and appears quite sharp (NM-or-better examples dominate), with unmarked checklists and team checklists to mention. Throw-ins (50+) are mostly beat up late-‘60s and early-‘70s cards, with a NM-MT ’83-84 OPC Guy Carbonneau rookie notable among the others. Lots of options for the high bidder here.
