Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021

One of the kingpins of Parkhurst’s landmark inaugural hockey card issue is Terry Sawchuk, with the Winnipeg native’s rookie card, contrary to a majority of others carrying the “RC” designation, actually coming out the season following his first NHL campaign. And what a way to start, with Terry joining the powerful Red Wings and playing in all 70 games in 1950-51, registering a league-high 11 shutouts and 44 wins while posting a 1.99 goals-against-average, helping Detroit to the club’s third of a record seven consecutive first place finishes. Terry was awarded the Calder Memorial Trophy as the league rookie-of-the-year and was on his way to becoming the NHL’s all-time shutout king. Recently examined at PSA headquarters, this example of Sawchuk’s coveted rookie card received an appropriate mark of VG-EX 4, with light wear at the four corners and no creases observed. We do not spot any scratches/blemishes to the PSA holder. Terry’s record of 103 regular season shutouts stood for 40 years until Martin Brodeur bettered it. A special and important card awaits your encapsulated RC/Parkhurst collection.
