Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021

Produced just after the Second World War to be used as a teaching aid in Quebec, this attractive vintage dual-sided lithographed display includes a charming hockey scene. At just over 27” x 37” and sporting a desirable folk art quality, the cardboard stock display features an especially colourful hockey scene with Montreal Canadiens players battling what appears to be Toronto Maple Leafs amid excited fans and a winter backdrop, with one of the Habs’ modeled after a famous image of HOFer Charlie Conacher. “Tableau Filteau-Villeneuve” appears at the base, with “Les Editions Schola, Montreal” on the left side and “Droits Reserves – 1947 – Copyright Lithographie au Canada” on the right. The reverse offers a beautiful summer lake scene with boating and fishing and matching text. While there is considerable wear present, primarily to the corners and along edges, the display presents wonderfully and would be quite stunning framed.
