Pulled from a Topps pack during Ken Dryden’s first full NHL season was this attractive 1971-72 rookie card of the “instant hero” of the previous campaign’s playoffs, like the back of card #45 informs. Big Ken played in six games down the stretch in ’70-71 and then backstopped the Canadiens throughout the playoffs, with the Habs claiming Lord Stanley’s silverware following series wins over the record-breaking Bruins, the North Stars and the Blackhawks and Dryden winning the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP. Beckett graded this well-centered example 6.5 EX-MT+, with a couple of lightly touched corners to report, along with a side-to-side print line that goes through the goalie’s blocker and trapper. A couple of small light scratches to the front of the holder are also to note. A classic image awaits your Dryden/RC collection.
