Surpassing the immortal Gordie Howe in style, scoring a trio of points in a single contest to tie and then lead the legendary Mr Hockey, Wayne Gretzky also scored the overtime winner in the historic match to proclaim his utter dominance as the sport’s ultimate scoring champion. Occurring during just his 11th NHL season, and fittingly, against his former Edmonton Oilers, the Oct 15, 1989 match witnessed Wayne assist on a Bernie Nicholls goal, and later tie the match late in the third to set the new NHL goal scoring record! Wayne also netted the overtime winner. This important historical collection of 35mm Edmonton Oilers negatives totals over 800, with each hailing from the record-setting Oct 15th contest, including a sequence of six images of Wayne scoring the goal, with one showing Wayne’s celebratory face after scoring. Other highlights include the Oilers celebrating, press and media entering the ice, an ice-level presentation to Wayne with both Gordie Howe and Walter Gretzky pictured, a press conference with Howe in attendance, numerous images of Wayne posing with the historic puck and more. Proof sheets and segments with the images from the majority of the negatives are also included, with expected handling wear to the entire group.
