Setting the hockey world on fire throughout the early stages of the 2010-11 NHL season, Sidney Crosby would begin a 25-game point streak in November on the 5th, and amass 50 points, with the streak concluding on Dec 29th vs the Islanders. Suffering a heavy collision in the Islanders game with David Steckel, Crosby did dress for one additional contest on Jan 5th vs Tampa Bay, with this his last game of the season. From his high-scoring half season of 2010-11 where he netted a grand total of 66 points in just 41 games, we have a pair of skates worn by the superstar. Photo-matched to the 2011 Winter Classic, with the right skate also matched to the Dec 29th contest vs the Islanders, the Reebok 11K models with Reebok E Pro blade holders sport intact lacing, with a number of small handwritten notations added to the underside of the blade holders, with these matching on both skates, including “87”, “#2” and “9-22-10” (this is confirmed on the accompanying Frameworth COA that lists game-use beginning on Sept 22, 2010 in the pre-season, with holograms from the company also added to each skate).
Sporting great game-use, the skates exhibit wear to each boot including rubbing to the leather in spots, with a number of cuts and gouges over the toe sections. The blade holders also show great use, with numerous puck marks along with additional cuts and slices to the material. It should also be noted that while the skates have the same matching markings on the underside of each boot, the skates were worn as both a matched pair, and also with other skates, as the photo-matches show the skates being worn together in the 2011 Winter Classic, with the just the right skate matched in the Dec 29th game vs NYI. Getty Image #107914182 (Jan 1, 2011 Winter Classic) is matched to paint loss on a number of the grommets on the left side of the right skate, and to the wear to the material along the left seam near the top of the grommets. The image is also matched to the distinct black mark directly to the right of the "E Pro" logo on the left side of the Left skate's blade holder, specifically to its exact shape and placement, with the rub within the silver accent on the far right side also visible. Additionally, Getty Image #107818054 (Dec 29, 2010 vs NYI) has been matched to the handwritten notations on the underside of the right boot, and to numerous marks over the notations and their specific sizes and placements. A pair of Max Edge blade protectors are also included with the skates, with one having “Fleury 29” handwritten.
