Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
Hockey fans and hockey card collectors were “jacked up” as the 2005-06 NHL season began, with the previous campaign turning out to be a major disappointment after it was cancelled due to a historic labor dispute. Onlookers got to check out two hot rookies; Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin, with the defending NHL scoring champion and MVP, Martin St. Louis also itching to get back at it after his dream season in 2003-04. Upper Deck paid tribute to the Tampa Bay Lightning star, featuring him on its Series 1 hockey card boxes, with a hobby box here containing two dozen eight-card packs. Nowadays, the Sidney Crosby Young Guns rookie card is most cherished among Series 1 representatives (the Ovechkin RC came out in Series 2), with autograph and patch cards also possible pack pulls, along with rookie cards of Henrik Lundqvist, Duncan Keith, Corey Perry, Zach Parise and others. The offered box has a tear in the cardboard and is pushed-in (above St. Louis’ helmet), where a tear in the shrink wrap is observed. We hope you get to observe! a (high grade) Crosby rookie if you decide to treat yourself to some fun.
