Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021

An instant collection of World Hockey Association card sets is available here, with just one card missing for a run of complete sets. A nice crisp card of “The Howes” leads-off the 1974-75 ensemble, with a rough cut along the left edge lowering the otherwise NM-MT example. There is a mix of conditions, (similar to other sets), with 64-Jacques Plante and a duplicate both NM+ and Bobby Hull’s autographed card affected by tape on the front and a red pen mark on the reverse. A Gilles Gratton RC is also autographed. Roughest are the ’75-76s, with creases and/or stains observed with most of the key/star cards, with however an EX Mark Howe rookie a bright light and a signed Jim Dorey card also notable. Expect a range of conditions with a ’76-77 near set (missing only 67-Chris Abrahamsson All-Star), along with notorious centering that varies. Typically, the ’77-78 representatives are nicest overall, (most are EX-MT-or-better) with a low grade card #1 of Gordie Howe among the exceptions. Three of the four checklists are not marked and crease-free. Ah, the good old WHA – what a chapter in pro hockey history.
