Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
An interesting gathering of Topps material is to consider here, with our consignor’s don’t-give-a-hoot attitude about condition resulting in a wide scope, with everything from a Poor 1962-63 Bobby Hull card (autographed beautifully in gold ink!) to some near-perfect cardboard. Extremely intriguing is a metal piece apparently cut from a printing plate that includes the “back” of a #61-Marcel Paille card that was never produced, instead being replaced by one of Rangers’ trainer Frank Paice. It’s sealed in a Lucite holder and accompanied by a near set of ’62-63s, with 20 attractive crease-free EX-or-better condition leaders featuring Hall, Pilote, Bathgate and Hadfield RC (EX+) and varying degrees of background toning (throughout) to note. Another 20 are in the VG to VG-EX realm, with Worsley (VG) and Gilbert (VG-EX) most noteworthy. The remainder are (P-F-G) lesser lights, with 1-Watson, Ratelle, Rangers Team and the marked/multi-creased checklist notable. Oh, and a Chico Maki card (P) is signed in black marker. Meanwhile, three NM-MT commons (31-Fleming, 37-McDonald, 58-Goyette) are in the group of ’63-64s, with however not much above VG among the rest and P-F-G examples dominating, with a Red Sullivan card autographed. Not present are #s 5, 7, 28, 33-Hull, 50 and 51, while not showing up in the ’62-63 stack are 11-Bucyk, 22-Bruins Team, 34-Mikita, 44-Black Hawks Team and 50, with a duplicate of 32-MacNeil. Multiple options with these two varied lots.
