Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
The two key cards in Topps’ gorgeous inaugural hockey card issue are included here, albeit not in gorgeous condition. The Gordie Howe example however displays rather well for a lower grade example, with corner and edge wear but no creases affecting the image and G being our assessment. Scuffs render the Terry Sawchuk entry lower (F) but surely still acceptable. We spot ten cards which are similar to the Howe, with peripheral wear, while the remainder exhibit creasing and corner/edge wear and are either P or F. A tape stain affects 5-Kelly, with low grade appearances by the first (1-Gamble) and last (100-Schmidt) cards noteworthy, the latter admittedly hammered. Red Sullivan (d.2019) applied a bold black marker autograph to his card, with rookie cards of 18-Mohns, 32-Henry, 35-McKenney (back damage) and 59-Bonin present. Required for completion are #s 7-Armstrong, 13-Timgrin, 45-Leswick, 47-Gardner, 48-Sandford and 51-Lindsay.
