A splendid array of graded cards is to consider here, with our consignor fond of goalies and the Montreal Canadiens. Rocket Roars Through in EX-MT 6 form represents Parkhurst and 1955-56, while Topps Habs earning NM-MT 8 recognition from PSA are Beliveau, Provost and Hodge from ’65-66, Cournoyer from ’66-67, Richard from ’67-68 and a trio of ’68-69s; Beliveau, Cournoyer and Laperriere – beauty. The Stanley Cup champs look good on a ’66-67 team card, slabbed EX-MT+ 6.5. Miscellaneous Topps entries include ’66-67 Ellis (NM-MT 8), while from the following year is a MINT 9 Bruce Gamble and Bower and Crozier at NM-MT 8. Four different cards of Gary “Suitcase” Smith (two with California, two with Vancvouver) include three 8s and a 9 (’75-76 Topps). ...Moving on to the ’70-71 O-Pee-Chee representatives, there are seven Canadiens at NM-MT 8; Cournoyer, Harper, Mahovlich, Redmond (traded), Richard, Lapointe RC and Tardif RC, with Trembley (MINT 9), Lemaire (NM-MT+ 8.5) and Larose (NM 7 (OC)) also contributing. Our guy also liked the Canucks; eight 8s, a NM 7 and an EX-MT 6 are present, while Gordie Howe leads another group (11) at NM-MT 8, with goalies Giacomin, Crozier and Favell, the Bruins Team, Brewer All-Star and five trophies comprising it – we love his taste! Other companies have encapsulated three other trophies (the Stanley Cup is an SGC 92 NM/MT+ 8.5), three Canucks and four Canadiens (Beliveau and Vachon are KSA 8 NMMs). Half a dozen Canadiens from the mid-‘70s are PSA 8s, including three Cournoyers and two team cards. “The Roadrunner” also appears firing on the Rangers’ Gilles Villemure on a Pro Star Promotions/NHLPA postcard, graded 96 MINT 9 by SGC, while a Group 3 Bee Hive picture of Gordie Howe is in a heavily-scratched PSA holder labeled VG-EX 4. A few miscellaneous items complete the booty including a strip of six miniature 1951 cards originally available folded in plastic capsules and bubble gum type vending. Yes, much to chew on here, but what a marvelous opportunity.
