This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
Deriving its name from the lake at its head, Kapuskasing River and the town of Kapuskasing – originally known as MacPherson, are situated in the Cochrane District of Northern Ontario. The town is famous as the birthplace of film director and producer James Cameron, as well as MLB pitcher Kirk McCaskill and his father, Ted McCaskill. We have a trio of vintage 1950s/60s Kapuskasing hockey jackets, with each hailing from inaugural-season Minnesota North Star and later WHA/WHL standout Ted McCaskill. Included, we have a Kapuskasing Beavers corduroy jacket from 1955-56, a Kapuskasing Huskies (HOHA) leather jacket from 1957-58 and a Kapuskasing GM's (NOHA) jacket from 1960-61. The Kapuskasing Beavers jacket sports a chenille crest over the left breast with “55-56”, with a second patch over the left sleeve in matching material showing crossed hockey sticks with “12”. The button-up has a label from Rice Sportswear along the collar, with light wear throughout. The Kapuskasing Huskies jacket is in solid navy blue, with a label from Victoria sewn to the collar and a chenille team crest over the left breast which includes “KAP Huskys 57-58”, along with a crossed hockey stick patch on the left sleeve and “9” on the right. The leather shows heavy wear from use with no damage, with all of the original oversized buttons in place minus one. Lastly, the Kapuskasing GM's jacket is in royal blue with red piping and white accents, with a label from Craft sewn to the collar. There is also a chenille GM’s patch over the left breast, “9” crest with crossed hockey sticks over the left sleeve and NOHA Sr “A” Finalist patch with “60-61” on the right sleeve. Just a single button is again missing, with moderate overall wear present.
