Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
Considered one of the greatest individual achievements in the sport, scoring 50 goals in a season is no easy task, with a mere three players reaching the milestone during the first half century of NHL hockey. Rocket Richard would be first, followed by Boom Boom Geoffrion, with Bobby Hull scoring his first 50 in 1961-62. The Golden Jet would surpass his own mark in 1965-66 and enter the record books as the first player in history to score more than 50 goals, and we offer a program from the historic contest of his 51st. At 6” x 9” and depicting Hawks winger Lou Angotti on the cover, the center line-ups are intact, with ink notations added to each, with additional handwritten text on the first page listing the goal (assisted by Angotti and Hay), time (5:34 of the 3rd period) and date (March 12, 1966). The important program survives in beautiful condition, with the staples tight and just some very light handling wear present.
