Short-lived throughout the late-1980s/early-1990s and only awarded four different times from 1988 to 1991, the Dodge Ram Tough Award was presented to the "best player" who scored the most powerplay, short-handed, winning and tying goals. While Joe Nieuwendyk secured the award for the NHL in 1987-88, Dale Hawerchuk was presented this plaque as the top Winnipeg Jet in this category. At 11" x 15", the finished wooden plaque with slanted edges features a mounted gold-coloured metal plate with Dodge Truck logo over the upper left and NHL shield over the upper right, with facsimile signatures at the base from NHL President John Ziegler and noteworthy Chrysler chairman Lee Iacocca. The award's particulars are all listed, including "The Dodge/NHL Ram Tough Award", "Presented to Dale Hawerchuk" and "In recognition of his team-leading 1987/88 Ram Tough Ranking". There is a bit of wear to the wooden plaque including over the bottom right corner, with a few scratches and marks to the mounted metal plate. Hailing from the personal collection of Dale Hawerchuk, an LOA from his family will accompany.
