Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/27/2021
Presented annually by Canadian NHL teams to the player who accumulates the most Molson "Three Stars" selections throughout the season, this Molson Cup Trophy was presented to superstar Dale Hawerchuk during his remarkable Calder Memorial-winning rookie season of 1981-82, where he set the record since-eclipsed by Sidney Crosby as the youngest player to reach 100 points. The original Winnipeg Jets would present the award only 17 times throughout their NHL tenure, with Dale's six wins the most in franchise history. At 8" in height and featuring a metal trophy bowl mounted over a puck and marble motif that sits over a finished wooden base, a plaque has been affixed to the base with "Winnipeg Jets Hockey Club", "1981-82" and "Dale Hawerchuk" engraved, with "Molson Cup" engraved to the trophy bowl. Hailing from the personal collection of Dale Hawerchuk, an LOA from his family will accompany.
There is surface wear and oxidation to the mounted bowl throughout including a few blemishes within the bowl, with some minor spotting to the metal plate between the marble and wooden bases. There are also a few scratches/marks to the wooden base, and we should note that the bowl is currently able to swivel on the base.
