Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Take a dive into some Maple Leafs history in this lot which features five different documents signed by Hall of Famer and Toronto General Manager George “Punch” Imlach (d-1987). Starting with a Try-Out Agreement “A” signed by goaltender Gerry Desjardins (signed as Gerard Desjardins) in 1963, we move on into the decade with Len Lunde’s (d-2010) signed Standard Player’s Contract for the 1968-69 and 1969-70 season, where he played for the WHL’s Vancouver Canucks. From here, we have items from Imlach’s second run as GM and it includes the Standard Assignment Agreement that sent Pat Boutette to Hartford from December 27, 1979, a 1979 letter to Laurie Boschman (featuring his early signature) on team letterhead, and Bob Stephenson’s Player Option Contract that was signed by Stephenson and Imlach in 1980. All items show little signs of wear, but the Lunde contract is folded. The Boutette document features Jack Kelley's (d-2020) signature as well.
Overall, the Imlach signatures are fine examples from both of his tenures with Toronto. All documents measure approximately 8.5" x 11" with the exception of the Stephenson (8.5" x 10") and Lunde contract (8.5" x 17"). There are small holes from a staple in the Desjardins document.
