Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Given the nickname of his famous football-playing father, who was regarded as the “King of the Heelers” for his proficiency at heeling the ball to the quarterback, King Clancy enjoyed a lengthy Hall of Fame career with both Ottawa and Toronto, with his relationship with the latter lasting over half a century. Rarely seen and produced originally to advertise Eno’s Fruit Salt during the 1930s, we have a framed promotional photo of the King. At approx 7” x 9” and featuring the six-time Stanley Cup champion in a full-colour pose in his Leafs uniform, “By the courtesy of Eno’s Fruit Salt” appears along the base, with the picture double-matted and framed to just under 12” x 15”, with text beneath listing the particulars. There is also a facsimile signature that is somewhat hard to read.
