Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Joining once again, in collaboration with the Montreal Canadiens, Classic Auctions is pleased to offer a large collection of artifacts and memorabilia from the storied club’s comprehensive archives. A number of historic specimens direct from the famous team including unique displays that were once marvelously displayed in the hallowed Montreal Forum and later at the Bell Centre are available, with an endless array of legendary and monumental players featured that all proudly once donned the sacred jersey of the mighty Montreal Canadiens.
Finishing behind a strong Quebec Nordiques club in the Adams Division, the Montreal Canadiens were led by Patrick Roy’s 23 wins during the 1985-86 NHL season, with Mats Naslund registering the most points with 110. The Habs would dispatch of Boston, Hartford, and the New York Rangers in the playoffs before defeating Calgary for the club’s 23rd Stanley Cup championship. Direct from the archives of the Montreal Canadiens and most likely produced originally for display at the Molson/Bell Centre, though it was never displayed, we have a 1985-86 Montreal Canadiens photo display. At 25” x 29” and featuring a 13” x 23” full colour team photo mounted to a vinyl backing, the Stanley Cup is in full view, with the year listed above and the players beneath including HOFers Partick Roy, Bob Gainey, Larry Robinson, Chris Chelios and Guy Carbonneau. There is some edge and corner wear, with a few small blemishes also visible. An LOA from Classic Auctions will be included.
