Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Joining once again, in collaboration with the Montreal Canadiens, Classic Auctions is pleased to offer a large collection of artifacts and memorabilia from the storied club’s comprehensive archives. A number of historic specimens direct from the famous team including unique displays that were once marvelously displayed in the hallowed Montreal Forum and later at the Bell Centre are available, with an endless array of legendary and monumental players featured that all proudly once donned the sacred jersey of the mighty Montreal Canadiens.
Serving with the Canadian Army for three years during the First World War, Herb Gardiner joined the WCHL’s Calgary Tigers after his return, and later made his NHL debut with the Montreal Canadiens at the age of 35. Parts of three seasons would be spent with the Habs, along with 13 games for the Chicago Black Hawks. Direct from the archives of the Montreal Canadiens and most likely displayed originally at the Montreal Forum and possibly later at the Bell Centre, we have a Hall of Fame honoured member framed photo of the 1927 Hart Memorial Trophy winner. At 7” x 10” (exposed), the modern print picture’s Gardiner in his Habs uniform, including torn pants and tattered sweater. A gold-coloured name plaque listing his induction year (1958) has been inserted beneath, double-matted and framed to 16” x 16”, with some light wear to the frame to note. An LOA from Classic Auctions will be included.
